PERAK has an extremely rich heritage. It became prominent with the discovery of tin in Larut, Taiping, in 1848, and its economy boomed. Although tin mining has ceased to be a major activity, visitors can still see Perak’s tin mining history at the Geological Museum in Ipoh, its capital city.
